Educational Programs for Young People

Interpreters in period costume are available for guided tours of the Museum, Wednesdays through Fridays, May through October. Living History demonstrators include the carpenter, the blacksmith, the printer and the weaver. A costumed docent also conducts a tour of the Metz Exhibit Hall.
The farm maintains the Rhode Island Red Heritage Flock, a flock of Romney sheep, guinea fowl and Narragansett turkeys. We also have an herb garden and a vegetable garden, the historic Robinson Family Cemetery and a picnic area.
The Fiber Arts Building and the Carriage Barn are open for self-guided tours.
Tours last about one hour.
School tours must be booked two weeks before the visit. The Museum requests a ratio of four students per chaperone.
The cost is $5 per student. Chaperones are free. A 50% nonrefundable deposit is required one week before the scheduled tour.

Victorian Life: SCM comes to you for this in-class or after-school enrichment program. Museum interpreters lead interactive discussions on different aspects of Victorian life. Each program lasts about 50 minutes.
