Attention,
Victory gardeners!

Victory Gardens are making a comeback throughout the country. In fact, Burpee's vegetable and herb seed sales rose 40% last year. Known as Liberty Gardens in World War I, and by several names since then, Victory Gardens were encouraged by the War Department in the early 1940s as a way for people to both express their patriotism and cope with food shortages.

The South County Museum plans an exhibit based on World War II victory gardens and would appreciate any information South County residents can gives us about their own experiences with Victory Gardens in the 1940s or the experience of their families or friends.

You can send correspondence to South County Museum at Strathmore Road, Narragansett 02882, or e-mail us. You can e-mail us using by your own e-mail program, and entering our address, jim@southcountymuseum.org, or by clicking on "VG Experiences" below.
