A Textile Makers Space - Opening Soon!
Textile historians and artisans Rebecca Kelly and Payton Becker are ready to open our Fiber Shed. Drop by the shed on Thursdays beginning July 27th to discuss their ongoing research and view our in-progress installation of a variety of antique textile tools.
You might find them repairing one of the museum’s 4-shaft treadle looms or setting up our natural dye lab. The museum’s four resident sheep were sheared this spring, so we also have some wool processing to do - learn about scouring, carding, and spinning with our very own sheep’s wool!
Information about a variety of fall activities including short format textile lectures, spinning demonstrations, embroidery, lace making, and natural dye classes will be posted soon. We hope to launch our weaver in residence program during the 2024 season. Stay Tuned!
