Other News

We’re making a Community Quilt!
We’ve hosted a couple cozy quilting sessions in the Museum’s “Ice House” - our winter crafting spot. Participants have been making quilt blocks from fabrics naturally dyed at the museum. These blocks will be used to create a contemporary quilt that will be displayed in the Museum's Fiber Shed.
Keep an eye on our calendar for future quilting sessions!

New Exhibition
We are looking forward to displaying our collection baskets made by Rouse Matteson (b. 1853) of Saunderstown, RI.
Matteson began his career as a carpentar, then became a fisherman and basket-weaver. His baskets are known for their hand-carved handles and precise shapes.
In the age of AI and computers, we look to celebrate and preserve fine hand-craftsmanship such at Matteson's work.
