Abstract Collage and Printmaking

Using vintage and commercial papers, students will create collage papers using letterpress and gelli plate printing. These papers will then be used to create abstract collages.

The class will be taught by guest instructor Sarah Short. Sarah is a mixed-media collage artist from the woods of Rhode Island. Her background as an English teacher explains her love of books, which she also enjoys using as the primary material for her collages. She's inspired by faded book covers, foxing on pages, letterpress printing, and vintage ephemera.

No prior experience with collage or printmaking is necessary.

This class will run on June 1st from 10am-4pm with an hour break for lunch, and will include a tour of South County Museum’s print shop.
