Woodturning
with guest instructor Eric Swanson
Learn the basics of the very satisfying craft of woodturning. Working with an already prepared bowl blank, each student will learn how to use various turning chisels and gouges to shape a small and elegant bowl.

Eric Swanson has been working with wood for well over 40 years. After earning his MFA in Furniture Design from Rhode Island School of Design in 1989, Swanson embarked on a woodworking career which has included working as a high-end cabinetmaker, a carpentry contractor, a fine furniture builder and also a certified woodworking teacher. Swanson is a third generation South County RI native with a strong love of history, and lives with his lovley wife Lisa in beautiful Matunuck.
Register for the workshop on August 8th, 10am - 2pm
Students will create a carrier box based on a Shaker original. The basics of carcase joinery & steam bending will be covered, as well as the use of many hand woodworking tools, from hand planes to hammers.
